Well.
I did not plan for a 4 month lapse in blog posts. I expected to have a weekly–or at least bi-weekly–writing habit.
Mark continues his streak of never ever blogging.
2024 has been filled with social time, a few projects, and a lot of moving. Since departing PeƱasco, we have sailed just over 1,065 nautical miles to Puerto Vallarta in Banderas Bay, where we arrived in early March. The days are longer. Sun is strong. The afternoon sea breeze disturbs the anchorage daily. We are deep in the tropics with bananas and coconuts growing randomly around. Iguanas roam. The sounds of osprey and coyotes have been replaced by the great kisakdee and waverunners. The food has changed to less tortillas de harina (flour) to more bread items and tortillas de maize (corn).
Banderas Bay is at the 20th parallel. This is the most south we’ve ever been in our own home or vehicle. We’re in line with Cuba, Haiti, Libya, and Saudi Arabi. Some days, it feels like it! The Jalisco locals (that’s the state we’re in, Jalisco) have warned us that August and September are unbearable with the heat and humidity. For now, we enjoy a spring that feels hotter than most summers we’ve experienced the past few years.
Next post, I’ll start sharing stories of our 1k nm south to the tropics.
